The Qualcomm® RB5 Gen 2 Development Kit (Vision Kit) expands the RB5 Gen 2 platform into a ready-to-use vision configuration for embedded AI, computer vision, and robotics. At its core, like the Core Kit, is the Qualcomm Dragonwing™ QCS8550 with high AI computing performance, modern multimedia processing, and a broad I/O feature set. The decisive difference is the included camera hardware for vision-centric development work.
Vision Kit as an extension of the Core Kit
The Vision Kit builds directly on the RB5 Gen 2 Core Kit. It includes the full base platform and adds the components needed for vision workflows. This makes it especially suitable for developers who not only want to evaluate the compute and I/O platform, but also want to work immediately with camera integration, image processing, and vision-based AI pipelines.
QCS8550 with 48 TOPS for demanding vision and AI workloads
Like the Core Kit variant, the Vision Kit is based on the Qualcomm Dragonwing™ QCS8550 with up to 48 TOPS of AI performance. The platform is complemented by the Qualcomm® Kryo™ CPU, Adreno™ 740 GPU, Spectra™ 680 ISP, Adreno VPU 8550, and Adreno DPU 1295. This makes the Vision Kit suitable for local AI inference, imaging, multimedia, and sensor-rich edge designs.
Direct entry into CSI-based vision development
The key value of the Vision Kit lies in its extended camera setup. Included are a mounting bracket for CSI cameras, a high-resolution CSI camera, and a low-resolution CSI camera. In the specification overview, these are listed as IMX577 and OV9282. This makes the platform particularly suitable for development tasks where image sensors and vision-based AI pipelines are an immediate part of the setup.
Differences from the Core Kit clearly focused on vision
Unlike the Core Kit, which provides the base platform without camera-specific add-on hardware, the Vision Kit is designed for immediate vision evaluation with CSI camera hardware already included in the package. An additional dip-switch configuration is also specified for the Vision Kit.
