Which board for what?

  • Evaluation carrier: all module interfaces accessible – test peripherals before your own design takes shape
  • Development kit: get to know platform, software stack and toolchain; often with debug access and sample projects
  • Reference design: adopt circuit blocks as a template for your own carrier board
  • Breakout/adapter boards: expose individual interfaces for measurements and prototypes

Developer FAQs

Do I need a carrier board when using a SOM?

Yes – the SOM provides the compute core, the carrier board provides interfaces, connectors and mechanics. Use an off-the-shelf carrier for evaluation; for production, a custom carrier is usually developed.

Can I use the evaluation carrier in production?

For small series this is often possible. At higher volumes or with special form factors, a custom carrier design pays off – with circuit blocks from the evaluation board serving as a reference.

Do you support custom carrier design?

Yes – from schematic review and high-speed layout questions to complete carrier board design through our development services.
