The Qualcomm® RB5 Gen 2 Development Kit (Vision Kit) expands the RB5 Gen 2 platform into a ready-to-use vision configuration for embedded AI, computer vision, and robotics. At its core, like the Core Kit, is the Qualcomm Dragonwing™ QCS8550 with high AI computing performance, modern multimedia processing, and a broad I/O feature set. The decisive difference is the included camera hardware for vision-centric development work.
Vision Kit as an extension of the Core Kit
The Vision Kit builds directly on the RB5 Gen 2 Core Kit. It includes the full base platform and adds the components needed for vision workflows. This makes it especially suitable for developers who not only want to evaluate the compute and I/O platform, but also want to work immediately with camera integration, image processing, and vision-based AI pipelines.
QCS8550 with 48 TOPS for demanding vision and AI workloads
Like the Core Kit variant, the Vision Kit is based on the Qualcomm Dragonwing™ QCS8550 with up to 48 TOPS of AI performance. The platform is complemented by the Qualcomm® Kryo™ CPU, Adreno™ 740 GPU, Spectra™ 680 ISP, Adreno VPU 8550, and Adreno DPU 1295. This makes the Vision Kit suitable for local AI inference, imaging, multimedia, and sensor-rich edge designs.
Direct entry into CSI-based vision development
The key value of the Vision Kit lies in its extended camera setup. Included are a mounting bracket for CSI cameras, a high-resolution CSI camera, and a low-resolution CSI camera. In the specification overview, these are listed as IMX577 and OV9282. This makes the platform particularly suitable for development tasks where image sensors and vision-based AI pipelines are an immediate part of the setup.
Differences from the Core Kit clearly focused on vision
Unlike the Core Kit, which provides the base platform without camera-specific add-on hardware, the Vision Kit is designed for immediate vision evaluation with CSI camera hardware already included in the package. An additional dip-switch configuration is also specified for the Vision Kit. This makes it the more suitable choice for teams that want to work with image data, camera integration, and vision applications from the start.

FAQ
What is the Qualcomm® RB5 Gen 2 Development Kit (Vision Kit)?
The Vision Kit is the vision-focused configuration of the Qualcomm® RB5 Gen 2 Development Kit. It includes the complete Core Kit platform and adds the camera hardware required for CSI-based computer vision development.
What is the most important difference compared with the Core Kit?
The Vision Kit adds a mounting bracket for CSI cameras, a high-resolution CSI camera, and a low-resolution CSI camera on top of the Core Kit. These vision components are not included in the Core Kit.
Which camera components are included in the Vision Kit?
The vision package includes a CSI camera bracket, a high-resolution CSI camera, and a low-resolution CSI camera. In the specifications, these are listed as IMX577 and OV9282.
Which platform does the Vision Kit use?
Like the Core Kit, the Vision Kit is based on the Qualcomm Dragonwing™ QCS8550 and provides up to 48 TOPS of AI performance together with a powerful CPU, GPU, ISP, VPU, and DPU architecture.
Which applications is the Vision Kit especially suited for?
The Vision Kit is especially suitable for computer vision, service robotics, deep learning, face detection and recognition, object detection and avoidance, and surveillance and security.
Why is the Vision Kit the more suitable option for camera-based projects?
Because it extends the Core Kit base platform with the required CSI camera components, allowing image sensors to be integrated into evaluation and prototype development immediately without separate camera sourcing.
