Quectel - L86-M33 GNSS Module with PATCH Antenna

The Quectel - L86-M33 GNSS module is a POT (patch antenna on top) GNSS module with 99 acquisition channels and 33 tracking channels. It is designed to be compatible with Quectel's GPS L80 module to provide a flexible and scalable platform for migration from GPS to GNSS. With an LCC package, an integrated patch antenna and a new generation MediaTek MT3333 GNSS chipset, the L86 offers exceptional performance in both acquisition and tracking, and its space-saving design makes the module ideal for miniature devices. The L86 combines EASY™ (Embedded Assist System for self-generated orbit prediction) with LOCUS™ (internal logger) and AlwaysLocate™ to deliver outstanding accuracy with low power consumption.

EASY™ enables the L86-M33 GNSS module to automatically calculate and predict orbits using up to 3 days of ephemeris data stored in RAM, allowing position to be established quickly and with low power consumption, even when signal levels are lower. LOCUS™ allows the module to log position information to internal flash memory at standard 15 second intervals, typically providing over 16 hours of logging capacity at no additional cost. AlwaysLocate™ allows the L86 to adaptively adjust on/off time to balance positioning accuracy and power consumption depending on environmental and motion conditions. The L86 also supports automatic antenna switching, switching between internal patch antenna and external active antenna while maintaining positioning.

The ultra-compact design, low cost and low power consumption of the L86-M33 GNSS module, combined with its excellent precision and high sensitivity, make the L86 suitable for a wide range of IoT applications such as wearable devices, automobiles, people tracking, security and industrial PDAs. The module is particularly suitable for specialised applications such as GPS mouse receivers and on-board diagnostics.
