High Wireless Performance in a Minimal Footprint

Compact AR/VR headsets, portable video cameras and small edge gateways share a common challenge: they must transmit large amounts of data wirelessly, respond with minimal delay and do so within tight space constraints. The Quectel FCE870Q addresses exactly this requirement. The module combines Wi-Fi 7 per IEEE 802.11be with Bluetooth 6.0 in an LGA package with a board footprint of just 195 mm², leaving room in designs where every square millimetre matters.

The peak physical Wi-Fi data rate is 5.8 Gbps, achieved through 4096-QAM (4K-QAM), 2×2 MIMO, Multi-User MIMO and a channel bandwidth of up to 320 MHz in the 6 GHz band. The FCE870Q additionally supports 320 MHz enhanced Multi-Link Single Radio (eMLSR), which further improves throughput and latency compared to conventional multi-link operation. All three bands are covered: 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz.

Bluetooth 6.0 with HADM – Beyond Basic Connectivity

On the Bluetooth side, the FCE870Q goes well beyond standard connectivity. Bluetooth 6.0 introduces LE Audio for low-loss audio transmission, 2 Mbps BLE, BLE Long Range and High Accuracy Distance Measurement (HADM). HADM enables precise ranging between devices, supporting proximity detection, interaction control or positioning use cases without requiring a dedicated ranging chip.

The module's host interfaces are designed for capable embedded platforms: PCIe 3.0 for the Wi-Fi data path, PCM for Bluetooth audio and UART for Bluetooth control. Both AP and station modes are supported, along with WPA, WPA2 and WPA3 security.
