Product description
The AK05611 is an analog front-end IC (AFE) from AKM (Asahi Kasei Microdevices) for EMG and BioZ measurement in wearable devices. Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation (AKM) developed the device specifically to enable stable surface electromyography (EMG) sensing during motion.
AK05611 Overview
The device integrates the analog front-end functions required for both EMG sensing and bioimpedance (BioZ) measurement into a single chip, simplifying system design and reducing development workload. An integrated Motion Artifact Cancellation (MAC) function uses BioZ information to reduce the impact of motion-induced noise, enabling stable EMG measurements during physical activity.
Configuration & Features
- Single-chip integration of EMG and BioZ analog front-end functions
- Motion Artifact Cancellation (MAC) based on BioZ data to reduce motion-induced noise
- Control via I²C or SPI interface, up to 32 channels supported via SPI for multi-point measurement systems
- Input-referred noise of 1.23 µVrms (EMG) and 0.45 µVrms (BioZ), comparable to discrete instrumentation amplifier implementations
- Sampling frequency from 0.25 to 4 kHz
- Package: CSP, 24 pins, 1.56 × 2.71 mm
Typical Applications
The AK05611 is suited for wearables such as smartwatches and AI glasses with gesture-based input, activity monitoring, and healthcare devices supporting frailty and sarcopenia management. Related components are listed under Sensor & Converter ICs and Wearables, Smart Glasses & XR.
